Developing Stem Professionals: Mentoring, Broadening Participation, and Faculty Development

Mentoring is the act or process of helping and giving advice to a younger or less experienced person.  Mentoring has been at the forefront of Dr. Grant’s life  and the products of her mentorship are some of her greatest achievements.

  • Dr. Grant was a Minority Peer Counselor to freshmen living in her dorms during her sophomore and junior years of her undergraduate studies.
  • She provided tutoring and outreach to current and prospective students for the National Society for Black Engineers during her senior year.
  • Provided Saturday morning math enrichment course to inner city middle and high school students at UC while working at P&G.
  • While in Graduate School, she spoke with undergraduates about grad school for STEM and specifically for Chemical Engineering.
